Cube 5 accompanies and supports people interested in founding a company and start-ups in the fields of IT security and future communication systems (6G) at every stage of development.

Cube 5 is based at the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security and the Faculty of Computer Science at the Ruhr University and is housed in the university’s own Worldfactory Start-up Center (WSC). The focus of Cube 5 is on supporting spin-offs from research with prospects of success in the B2B sector.

A long tradition of founding

The Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security and Cube 5 can look back on a long founding tradition: In 20 years of the institute’s history, over 20 successful companies have been founded. Cybersecurity start-up champions such as ESCRYPT, Edgeless Systems, VMRay and PHYSEC prove that Bochum and the entire Ruhr metropolitan region have developed into one of the most important hubs of the German and European start-up scene for IT security in recent years. Cube 5 is part of the StartUpSecure and StartUpConnect funding programs of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Cube 5 and Identeco: a success story

Cube 5 has been working together to make the world a safer place. Since the founding of Identeco, Cube5 has supported the company through a flourishing network, joint participation in trade fairs and the organization of events. Rhine and Ruhr, Bonn and Bochum is once again a success story.
